Mae (Emma Watson) Mae is in a dead end dreary temp job.
Her car barely runs and she is reduced to living at home with
her parents. Then, through a connection in friend Annie (Karen
Gillan), Mae lands an interview at The Circle, a hip-and-trendy
tech organization and lands a job at the Orwellian social-media
company that preaches the value of complete transparency and
inspires a cult-like devotion in its employees.
She quickly rises through the ranks of the world’s
largest tech & social media company, and is encouraged
by the company’s messianic founder Eamon Bailey (Tom
Hanks) to engage in a groundbreaking experiment that pushes
the boundaries of privacy, ethics and ultimately her personal
freedom.) However, she soon learns that the corporation and
its are hiding a nefarious agenda - what is Bailey presenting:
a surveillance state at the hands of privatized, mass-produced
micro-cameras. Mae realizes she may be in over her head is
somthing very dangerous.
