One: A Star Wars Story"
Did you ever wonder how Princess Leia got the plans for
the Death Star? This film is the exciting, action packed set-up
for "Star Wars Episode IV, a New Hope." Rogue One
slips neatly between Episodes Three and Four, takingplace shortly
before the latter and connectingthe dots between events we
are familiar with.
When Galen Erso (Mades Mikkelsen) is forceably taken by Imperial
soldiers under command of new baddie Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn)
and forced to design a super battle station capable of destroying
a whole planet, i.e.:The Death Star" his daughter Jyn
(Felicity Jones), a teenage outlaw, becomes a vital part of
the rebellion's efforts to thwart the Galactic Empiure's u;ltimate
weapon project. The team assembled by Mon Mothma ( Genevieve
O'Reilly) is called Rogue One and their mission is to steal
the plans to the battle station, if possible rescue Galen,
and prevent the reign of terror planned by the project manager,
Grand Moff Tarkin ( Peter Cushing (CGI) and his henchman Darth
Vader (James Earl Jones).
The core of the plot is a caper film, a heist of the item
that becomes the MacGuffin of the fourth episode of the Star
Wars saga by out manned and out gunned rebels akin to the
French Resistence in 1940. Considert the events in the Middle
East and you have the early days of the rebellion against
the Galactic Empire and the efforts of the Imperial forces
to crush resistance. It's very esasy to relate to the characters
and their plight. This is backed up by a hard hitting score
by Michael Giacchino much different inmany ways form John
Williams thematic scores.
