| Nikki Shannon is more than just
a pretty face. In fact, she has the complete package--stunning voice, well-seasoned
pianist, incredible songwriting and an electrifying personality that captures
you instantly and leaves an indelible mark on your soul. Nikki also has
a chilled vibe that flows right into her music and her performances which
she executes as easily as enjoying a glass of fine wine.
"It all started on Thanksgiving Eve when I was 4. My mom went to buy a horse but instead came back with a piano." Growing up in Kingston, New York, Nikki would watch her two older sisters play the piano and begged her mother for piano lessons. Even at a young age, she spent hours incessantly at the keyboard. In her teen years, she was constantly performing and songwriting--at first, singing in lounges, then writing/performing wedding songs for couples, and eventually writing songs for her debut album "Too Few". Nikki's striking style, exceptional talent and her "bring it" attitude definitely sets her apart from other artists. Her songs reflect her to a tee--they are raw, real, and relatable. From moments of self-empowerment ("She is Me" and "Inner Circle"), self-realization ("Drink"), self-doubt ("Under Her Breathe"), and even making light of a woman's monthly visitor ("Chocolate and Wine"). "Suffocate", Nikki's favorite track, displays the sexy grittiness of her voice and showcases her classical piano training. Nikki's songs have recently been featured in an episode of "Six Degrees" on ABC, as well been on XM Satellite radio and the NYC classic rock station Q104.3 ("Out of the Box" hosted by Jonathan Clarke.) Nikki Shannon's debut album "Too Few" (released June 2008) is an eclectic mixture of sounds bursting with infectious melodies incorporating several genres of music yet sounding like nothing you have heard before. Check out her debut album "Too Few" now! The album is available on itunes, Rhapsody, Napster, E-Music, and Amazon. |

Indie rocker Nikki Shannon has recently been playing around town in support of her debut disc Too Few which was released last month. Nikki is a talented pianist/keyboardist who is has a raw bluesy voice that is somewhat comparable to early Melissa Etheridge. She also has a fascinating bio as her MySpace profile talks about how the financial challenges of being a NYC artist left her homeless for a period and sleeping on friend's couches and in the basement of piano bars. |

Nick Howard is a musician focused on
the highly coveted prize of achieving fame with his music. Coming
to New York City in 2004, he’s been working a full-time career-balancing
act as a means to achieve this goal. “I knew I didn’t want to be
that guy living off my girlfriend or mooching off friends. I realize
I had to be realistic about pursuing this,” says Howard. And coming
to the US with no family or connections would make it that much tougher
in a big city where aspiring singer-songwriters are a penny a dozen.
While growing up in Brighton, England with his mother, grandmother and sister, Howard listened to a lot of American and British soul, pop, rock and blues artists, ranging from typical influences like The Beatles and The Who to inspirational leading men like Michael Jackson, Marvin Gaye and Freddy Mercury. Watching these artists is what really inspired confidence in Howard to get up and perform in front of people. He started playing the guitar and singing at the age of 10, eventually forming bands with friends throughout high school who emulated the stars of the booming ‘90s Brit-Pop revolution. He later attended college in Nottingham where he continued to write songs, performed at venues across the UK and graduated with a degree in Computer Science. After moving to New York City in 2004, Howard eventually settled in Long Island City just outside of Manhattan. He started booking shows for himself and performing around the City, grabbing the attention of big-name musicians and producers. He eventually met Travis Harrison, with whom Howard collaborated on his first album Contradicted, a 6-track EP that he independently released in 2005. The blues-inspired EP received several accolades, including a feature on Clearchannel’s “Discover New Music” campaign in 2006. “Contradictions”, a track from the EP, will soon be featured in the upcoming Elisha Cuthbert movie, My Sassy Girl, to be released in 2008. |
| Land of Beginning Again, brings together jazz, folk and country influences – and even a little classical. The CD is a collaboration with Charlie, with four of Segal's original songs, including the title song, and two of his, primarily instrumentals. He plays most of the guitars on the tracks, all lead guitars, plus electric bass, Dobro and lap steel. Brown and Segal met in New York a few decades ago, and he went on to a stellar career as a studio musician, as well as releasing two solo LP's on Polydor, and a CD, Ride in the Country. Segal's first CD, ''Better Late Than...'' is more folk oriented, while ''Land of Beginning Again'' has a more eclectic range of styles, and expresses some of Ms. Segal's feelings of regret, time passing, second chances and 'never giving up on your dreams'. | ![]() |
